High temperature inspection is increasingly being recognized as a key area in which there is a potential to make large cost savings by avoiding or minimising plant shut-down. However, high temperature ultrasonic inspection with conventional type piezoelectric probes is fraught with difficulty as few such probes will survive extended continuous exposure to temperatures above 200°C (390°F) and there are considerable problems in related areas such as couplant selection and velocity and attenuation variations with changing temperature.

KANDE has extensive experience in the development of probes and instrumentation for high temperature applications (see our high temperature products page) and we can offer advice and system design consultancy for high temperature inspection applications from ambient to 800°C (1470°F).
